Strategic Planning & Goal Setting

I use a specific process and method to help teams and leaders manage the goal setting process.  It enables creativity and leverages collective intelligence by working with a systems thinking approach.  Systems thinking is an approach to problem solving/planning that views “problems or challenges” as parts of an overall system, rather than reacting to present outcomes or events and potentially contributing to further development of the undesired issue or problem.   It taps into the collective intelligence of those in the system to we can make visible the patterns that unconsciously get in the way of success.

By following a specific process, you can avoid recreating the same problems you’re trying to change and more importantly, identify and make the shifts necessary to achieve your goals.

The process includes:

  • Creating your greatest vision for success
  • Identifying the key obastlces that get in the way of success
  • identifying the “leverage points” in achieving your vision and overcoming the obstacles
  • Understanding how the problems work
  • Creating metrics for short term and long term progress reports
  • Creating a plan that includes key action items, due dates and responsibilties to achieve the plan

The post-process can include:

  • Regular review and on-going assessment of progress and challenges, including on-going dialogues and assessment of change
  • Employee engagement and communication plans
